Quick Update

So the grand Firewarrior Feburary project failed.  I got all 36 primed but only 12 got their body suits painted.  I have a long way to go to get the models complete.

So we are declaring makeup March to get the firewarriors set.

Firewarrior February Update

A quick mid month update.

36 firewarriors primed and base coated ready to go.  I've cleaned off the painting table and have my fireblade for refrence, and to finish him up.

I've already completed more in this step than the last Tau army I owned.

The plan is simple assembly line to get them knocked out, move from one side of the table to the other as a step is completed till their all done.

Fire Warrior February!

Fire Warrior February!  In an effort to stop using marines as stand-in fire warriors I've decided to devote the month of February to getting my infantry built and painted.  So far I've got 24 troopers built, and another box to go.  I may pick up a 4th box before the end of the month but right now my true goal is the original 36 troopers.  As a side bonus i got the last 6 stealth suits built last night.  They were in the old Tau battle force along with a box i've had since Dec 2012.   They probably won't get painted this month but they are built and ready to use.

Snow Day = Work Day

So we've been trapped in the house since Thrusday evening due to ice.  When its wintery weather in Dallas, we just hunker down and pray.

Since the Riptide had such a awesome explosive end during the apoc game I felt he earned some attention on the work table

Lining and block colors are done just have to touch up the white, seal it then get some decals before it's final full coat.

Tall update

Its really a small update, but he's not that small.

I've got some really good progress done on the Riptide.  I hadn't intended on him being one of the first models finished but he's been performing so well on the table I thought he deserved it.
 All of his base colors and block colors are done.  I need to move on to the black lining and clean up work.  Both of his arms are being painted seperatly to make it easier to get in with the black lining, and they are ready to be attached.   The guns are probably the last thing to be finished but are coming along great.

Go Long

Got the Longshot Hammerhead built tonight.   Paulson flag and missile packs, GW squadron sensor suite upgrade really make it stand out.  Which really just makes more sense than some poor guy hanging out of the turret.  The missile packs are my first attempt at adding these to the fish body, and are on there OK, but the next set will go on much nicer.

This tank is not magnatized, I figured a character model should be built out fully and not switchable.

Look to the skys

So I managed to pick up a shark kit pretty cheap and got it built this week.  Its not a bad kit, its growing on me.  I fielded it yesterday but it only got one round of fire before it was tesla'd out of the sky but the necrons...stupid necrons.

I also managed to retrieve my batch of drones that were misdropped from GW.  Only two weeks late.

All of the major suits, all the built drones, and the two character models Primed and Base Coated!

so far i'm liking everything.

Dark Strider

So got my failcast Dark Strider. He's actually the best of the resin minis I've had. The Lord Commissar I got at the same time looks like he shot himself in the foot.

I decided I wanted a different look for my Dark Strider so I threw a helmet on him and some bits from the pathfinders box. I like the look although the helmet looks just a slight touch bigger.

Paulson Games how I love you.   They still need to be cleaned up a bit but these are gonna look SWEET!

In Command

I think I'm pretty well set for commanders.  I've got one of each flavor, except for the new pathfinder commander who's still on back order. 

The crisis suit commander is mostly done, just a bit of touch up and some basing.  Still have to finish the Ethereal and of course start on the fireblade.

Beep Beep Beep

The best defense is honesty not getting shot in the first place. Got my first shield drone done, black lining and everything.

Coming Together.

I'm really enjoying this color pattern.  I've still got to do allot of line work on all the units but I think it will be worth it.

 I've got my new Badger Snow White airbrush paint coming to try.  This model is painted with the newish Testors Aztec White airbrush paint.  I really give the paint allot of props for how easy it is to work with, but I'm not a fan of the shine. 

So here is my commander with the arms blue tacked on.  After I get the black lining done I'll glue the arms on for good.  Also his little shield buddy is looking good as well.

Dug the commander out to finally get him built. New codex is just around the corner and I have so much to paint.

Quick follow-up

Quick follow-up to yesterdays post.  I had some time last night to get some paint on the mini.

Vallejo surface primer, then airbrushed on Vallejo AirColor White, the body glove is a P3 color I don't remember the specific name for at the moment.

Putting definition on the armor's panel lines will be the most difficult task with out some sort of wash dulling the white.  I may go ahead and use a wash on the rifle.  I never noticed till I really looked at the City Fight cover art but their lenses were blue.  I really like how it makes the lens pop though I need to clean up the inside of that panel.

Something must have frozen over, I've got primer on a pathfinder ready to paint. He's actually being prepped to become my test model for my paint scheme.

I've been looking at a mostly white force for awhile, and have done a couple of test paints.  I've decided to lock in on the rarely seen city fight white and maroon tau force.  Honestly the cover art is the only place its shown.  Both Tau forces in the book are green or blue, none the white cover art.

COLOR!

Awhile back I decided to restart my Tau army.  I wasn't happy with their construction or the colors I was going with.  So while surfing the GW site one day I came across an article with these amazing White and Red Tau units.  I knew that's what I wanted to do.  Here are two of the first color tests, a crisis suite and of course a drone.  the drone still needs a coat or two more of the red, and the suit of course needs allot more work.  I think this will make them a clean and distinct army on the table, and be a challenge to paint as well.
